I found out the hard way that worms and slugs make the tank VERY messy. I'll do it in a small pool from now on outside the house. I'm hoping the filter kicks into overdrive with the new filter in so it cleans the tank out completely.

FYI, slugs, snails, earthworms, and live prey will likely contain parasites. I feed my turtles many different live prey, but it is good to vary their diet and observe them carefully. And once in a while a de-worming is not a bad idea. Enjoy the slimy little suckers!

95% of their diet consist of pellets and frozen food. I only feed the earthworms regularly to my Spotted, and for the Muds and DBT's it's more of a treat. I do have De-worming pellets with a Metronidazole and Fenbendazole combination.

I got the blue bottle, anti-parasite for aquatic turtles. I found it at Petsmart. I checked the active ingredients and that would be the same medicine my vet would compound for me, and we also like the idea that it's stress free on the turtle, no need to manipulate them to try to medicate.
