
Mounts don't eat bread and such. They don't eat items that have +heals for characters. They eat stuff like fish and gutted fish. They also eat some plant stuff, but usually it's a lot cheaper to just buy 100 of the cheapest fish/gutted fish and feed your mount, that will easily take it to having 1k+ energy.
Can mount pods carry items?
Can carry items, much like a portable chest, up to a certain number of pods depending on generation and level (you can still use this feature if you have a pet equipped). Unequipping a mount requires you to empty its inventory.
How do I equip a Mount?

How do you get a mount in Skyrim?
Only Subscribers can use Mounts. A character must be Level 60+ to ride a Mount. Mounts are purchased by buying a Mount Certificate from the pet market in Bonta at [-36,-56] or Brakmar [-32,37], or by exchanging with another player.

Mount Storage Space
Mounts also have their own storage space that can be accessed while equipped. Those with the Loadbearer capacity have twice as many pods as normal.
